Des Moines Channel 5 News featured a story today about Iowa City twins that are receiving milk from the Mothers' Milk Bank of Iowa. From the story:
Iowa Ann Tvedte's body wasn't ready to feed her twins when they were born six weeks early.
She could not produce breast milk, yet wanted to provide her newborns with the best nourishment.
Her answer came in 4-ounce bottles from the Mothers' Milk Bank of Iowa, one of nine banks in North America that stores donated breast milk for emergencies like this.
Tvedte has seen the benefits of the donations first-hand. When her twins were born in April, they were about four pounds each.
Today, they have more than tripled their weights.
Fantastic! :)
